Your three and a half hour tour will include three or four scheduled stops of 10-25 minutes each at selected landmarks. This is the most popular tour in San Francisco and is an excellent way to see the City in a short space of time or to orient you for a longer stay. Stops may change depending on weather and traffic.

At the end of your tour you will return to Fisherman's Wharf for more sightseeing or choose to be returned back to your hotel.

Alcatraz Ferry and Tour Info:

After a short 10 minute ferry ride from Pier 33 across San Francisco Bay you will arrive on the infamous Alcatraz Island. The tour includes a movie of Alcatraz history and a 35 minute audio headset tour of an Alcatraz cell block. This audio tour is available in 6 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

To reach the Cell House, you must walk up a steep hill. In addition to the famous prison, Alcatraz features some of the most spectacular views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge from the beautifully landscaped Agave Trail.

Please note that the walk to the Alcatraz Cellhouse is on steep, uneven pavement. SEAT (Sustainable Easy Access Transport) is available for wheelchair users and visitors unable to walk to quarter mile, 12% upgrade. No animals (except certified service animals) are allowed on Alcatraz Island.

After the tour there is time to visit the Alcatraz Museum, the bookshop and explore the island. Stay as long as you like - ferries depart every 1/2 hour back to San Francisco.

Average time spent on Alcatraz is 1 1/2 - 3 hours.

Alcatraz Cruises provides the Alcatraz ferry and tickets for the Cellhouse audio tour portion of this combination ticket. Alcatraz is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Alcatraz Cruises is a concessionaire of the National Park Service.

Limited tickets for Night Alcatraz Tours are available May 5-June 10 Weekends only, June 15-September 3 Daily, September 8-September 30 Weekends only. Departures 6:10 PM or 6:40 PM. City Tour Departure Point and Schedules:
The City Tour departs at 10:00 AM or 2:00 PM from the SuperSightseeing Office, 2627 Taylor Street, San Francisco, CA 94133 - located at the corner of Taylor and North Point, across from the Hayatt Fisherman's Wharf Hotel. Passengers should meet at this address 15 minutes prior to departure.

Departure Times and Alcatraz Ticket Information:

The tour schedule for the day depends on the availability for Alcatraz ferry tickets.

For example, if Alcatraz Ferry is available in the morning; We will pick you up from your Hotel (if requested) and bring you to Fisherman's Wharf. You will pick up tickets for the Alcatraz Ferry direct from the Pier 33 "Will Call" window. After your Alcatraz Tour you return to the Ghirardelli Square Tour Office to join the City Tour at approximately 1:45 pm.

If there is no availability for Alcatraz ferry in the morning, upon arrival at Fisherman's Wharf you will start with the City Tour and then continue to Pier 33 and the Alcatraz Ferry and Tour in the afternoon.

If Alcatraz is sold out for the date requested you will not recieve Alcatraz tickets and will not be charged for that portion of the Combination tour order. If your Credit Card is declined by the Alcatraz Cruises order system you will not recieve Alcatraz Tickets.

Confirmed Alcatraz ticket reservations will be sent to you in a seperate email. The fees for Alcatraz Ferry are not included in the charges for the City Tour. You have booked 2 seperate reservations and will recieve 2 confirmations and 2 seperate credit card charges. Each part of the order is confirmed as tickets become available. Alcatraz Tickets are only available for booking for the next 90 days. There will be delays for the Alcatraz part of the orders that are booked 90 days or more in advance.

Confirmation & Travel Vouchers
For every confirmed booking you will receive 2 e-mails with your E-Ticket Vouchers - when both parts of your combo tour booking are confirmed. Please present the 1st E-Ticket voucher at the Tour Office for your City Tour. The 2nd email will be your reservation and receipt for the Alcatraz ferry.

Alcatraz Tickets are held at Pre-Paid Will Call:

Your Alcatraz boarding tickets will be held at the Alcatraz Cruises Dock at PIER 33.
When you present your Alcatraz Voucher, picture ID and credit card used on the reservation transaction the boarding tickets are printed. Be sure to show up 30 to 45 minutes before your Alcatraz cruise! Tickets may not be picked up prior to the tour date.
