Alcatraz Ferry and Tour Info:

After a short 10 minute ferry ride from Pier 33 across San Francisco Bay you will arrive on the infamous Alcatraz Island. The tour includes a movie of Alcatraz history and a 35 minute audio headset tour of an Alcatraz cell block. This audio tour is available in 6 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

To reach the Cell House, you must walk up a steep hill. In addition to the famous prison, Alcatraz features some of the most spectacular views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge from the beautifully landscaped Agave Trail.

Please note that the walk to the Alcatraz Cellhouse is on steep, uneven pavement. SEAT (Sustainable Easy Access Transport) is available for wheelchair users and visitors unable to walk to quarter mile, 12% upgrade. No animals (except certified service animals) are allowed on Alcatraz Island.

After the tour there is time to visit the Alcatraz Museum, the bookshop and explore the island. Stay as long as you like - ferries depart every 1/2 hour back to San Francisco.

Average time spent on Alcatraz is 1 1/2 - 3 hours.

Alcatraz Cruises provides the Alcatraz ferry and tickets for the Cellhouse audio tour portion of this combination ticket. Alcatraz is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. TAlcatraz Cruises is a concessionaire of the National Park Service.

About Our Buses: Double-decker buses are taller than other buses. They are extensively used in the United Kingdom, where perhaps the most famous is the Routemaster used in London since 1954, which is now being phased out (as of 2005). Most of the buses in Hong Kong and about half in Singapore are double-deckers as well. A few are also used as tour buses, especially in New York and Paris and now San Francisco.

Our double-decker buses have an open upper deck, with no roof and shallow sides. These are very popular for sightseeing tours of cities such as San Francisco. Book a Double Decker Tour and climb up and back into history.

The tour schedule for the day depends on the availability for Alcatraz ferry tickets.

For example, if Alcatraz Ferry is available in the morning; You will pick up tickets for the Alcatraz Ferry direct from the Pier 33 "Will Call" window. After your Alcatraz Tour you return to the CitySightseeing San Francisco Tour Office to join the Golden Gate Loop at approximately 3:30 pm.

If there is no availability for Alcatraz ferry in the morning, upon arrival at Fisherman's Wharf you will start with the 9:00 AM Golden Gate Loop Tour and then continue to Pier 33 and the Alcatraz Ferry and Tour in the afternoon.

Alcatraz Tickets are held at Pre-Paid Will Call:

Your Alcatraz boarding tickets will be held at the Alcatraz Cruises Marine terminal at Pier 33. When you present your Alcatraz Voucher, picture ID and credit card used on the reservation transaction the boarding tickets are issued. Be sure to show up 30 to 45 minutes before your cruise! Alcatraz tickets may not be picked up prior to the tour date.

            

This combination tour must be booked at least 24 hours in advance of your travel date. Your two confirmations for these 2 separate activities will be received within 12-24 hours subject to availability.

Recommended for all tours in San Francisco: Comfortable shoes and a extra layer of warm clothing.

Weather permitting. If seasonal fog obscures the view, tour route may be altered.
